New Trees in the Garden.

This term In the garden every Monday we have been doing garden. A few people been digging holes. People also have been planting and the others people have been doing work in the garden. I have been getting soil from the ground because Nigel put some there. I have been also planting it's real fun at the Garden.            

Thanks to Edible Trees for Canterbury for giving us the trees to plant.

The Candy Earth

For inquiry we did another example for the Earth.

marshmallow chocolate and an m&m.

The chocolate was crust of the Earth. The marshmallow was the mantle and the m&m as the core.

The shell of the m&m was. The liquid iron covering the center of the Earth.

we squeezed the chocolate make it look like tectonic plate.

It's not really the earth 

 

What We Are Learning For Maths

 For maths we are leaning measurements like liters kg's millilitres tones and more.                                        On the first week we where measuring water sand and more there was heaps of stuff to do.                           then we would way stuff on the scale we would have to try get 250g by using Marbles the answer was 10.

For inquiry we are learning about space and the earth this is what I did I made the earth with circles and a third of a circle and the scribble to make land.

The core

The inner core is made out of solid iron and the core is made liquid iron.

mantle

The mantle is the second part of the earth it is also a really hard rock and no one has reach the mantle yet.

The crust

The crust is like dirt and is 12 to 56 miles down to get to the mantle.

Tectonic plates

They fit together like a puzzle pieces also on partly molten mantle.

Today inquiry we looked at an egg and how it would represent the earth.                                                       First we had to crack the egg a little bit then we cut the egg and looked at it The shell was the crust and   the egg white was the mantle ad the yolk
in the egg was the core.
